BEAUTIFUL AURORA OVER QUEBEC CITY – GET OUT AND SEE SOME YOURSELF.
Photo By: Mathieu Bordage (Links below).
Just wanted to take the time and post this beautiful shot by Mathieu Bordage of the Aurora Borealis from Quebec City on the night of July 14, 2013.
Use this as a reminder to all of my northern hemisphere friends that we are in the midst of Solar Maximum 24 so if you get a chance, get out and see the aurora for yourself because after the maximum goes away in 2014 it’s a VERY long 9-10 years before the Sun begins to ramp back up to another maximum as its roughly an 11 year cycle. Barring a random CME event (Which could very well happen but you can’t count on them) there won’t be much to see in regards to the aurora unless you live close to the poles in between cycle peaks.
Here’s the page I wrote on chasing the Aurora; it’s very roughly written but it’s intended to be information, not a short story. There are also more links that you will ever need in there as well. Have a great week everyone!
