“Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man’s desire to understand.” – Neil Armstrong.
With the one year anniversary of Neil Alden Armstrong passing at the age of 82, on August 25, 2012, it is once again “Wink at the Moon” night, to honor the incredibly humble man that the world looked up to as an adventurer, explorer and above all; the first of our species to set foot on another planetary body or simply = HERO.
Wherever you are in the world, if you are able, give the Moon a wink and think some of your favorite memories of Mr. Armstrong and the early years of the space program.
“That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind”
“Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.”
“I believe every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don’t intend to waste any of mine.” Though this quote was spoken in a comical tone and finished with “running around doing exercises.”
“It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.”
“The single observation I would offer for your consideration is that some things are beyond your control. You can lose your health to illness or accident. You can lose your wealth to all manner of unpredictable sources. What are not easily stolen from you without your cooperation are your principles and your values. They are your most important possessions and, if carefully selected and nurtured, will well serve you and your fellow man.”
