EARTH WAVES AT SATURN – ARE YOU IN THERE?

Photo By: All of us…… (Links below).

We all remember July 19, 2013 when we all waved at Saturn while Cassini photographed Earth from Saturn’s rings. The full photo of Saturn and little Earth should be coming soon but in the meantime the Cassini team did something else pretty cool.

As asked by NASA, more than 1400 photos (Extremely disappointing number in my opinion) sent in photos of themselves waving at the ringed planet on that day. Those photos have now been assembled into a fantastic collage and were released this week. The images used came from 40 countries and 30 US states and they were sent in by numerous different social media outlets.

This is something we need more of to continue to generate interest in astronomy, the space program and S.T.E.M. in general. I really appreciate NASA for trying to generate a feel of participation and ownership by conducting this event as well as the photos and this collage.
