HISTORY, PAINTED BY THE MAN WHO WAS THERE.
Photo By: Alan Bean, Apollo 12 Lunar Module Pilot & 4th human to walk on the Moon (Links below).
Apollo 12 astronaut, Alan Bean, inspired by his experiences creates artwork to commemorate, communicate and remember those times as well as pay tribute to Project Apollo as a whole. The REAL hand painted artwork he creates is way out of my league but you can bet I have a few autographed prints in mind for myself this coming Christmas.
Alan Bean is a US NAVY Captain and a member of NASA Astronaut Group 3 (Which included Buzz Aldrin). He spent a total of 69 days, 15 hours and 45 minutes in space as a Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 12 and while stationed onboard SkyLab 3, which only 9 astronauts were ever part of. Before his epic achievement of being one of only 12 humans in our species existence to walk on another planetary body he is also the 1st astronaut to suit up in a pressurized capacity in the Natural Buoyancy Simulator, now a staple of astronaut training.
Many of his paintings include textures on them that he creates with Moon Boots, Gloves and the actual hammer he used to break rocks, dig in the lunar soil and pound in the American Flag with while in the Ocean of Storms! And get this; his actual paintings are matted with patches from his space suit that are dirty with actual lunar soil on top of all that!
THAT, my space nut friends, is authentic as it gets!
