KINGS CANYON STARTRAILS

KINGS TIMELAPSE

Here’s yet another gem from Gavin Heffernan of Sunchaser Pictures and it’s a set of startrails from the amazing Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park, California.  Personally, I’ve always had a “thing” for a great set of startrails, especially when they’re done like this.  In the past I’ve explained how your foreground and light painting can really make or break a set of startrails.  In this image it’s the lack of foreground lighting (or at least very little) that makes the shot for me.  The black silhouettes of the trees really works to bring out the color of the stars as well as their brightness.  Also, if you look just left of center you can see a faint streak of a lucky meteor (perhaps a June Lyrid) whose spectacle was captured for the world to see.

As amazing as this image is, I have to inform you that this is just one shot in an amazing timelapse video called “KINGS” that he created and I think will wow you as his timelapse work typically does.  Great guy, great work and I’m very happy to see that he’s getting the recognition he deserves lately.  In the links below I will post the “KINGS” timelapse at the top so check it out!
