I’ve been meaning to post this image for a long time now and with a 50 degree F day today and spring apparently on its way I figured this would be a great time to share it. This great image of the Milky Way by Chris Georgia is a favorite of mine because of the obvious night sky aspect to it but it’s also because this is a place I love to visit.
Located in New Hampshire’s White Mountains there are numerous places where the footprints of long-passed ice ages are still putting on a show. This valley known as Crawford Notch is one of those locations. This particular view was shot from atop the 2,804 ft. Mt. Willard and it’s placed perfectly as it overlooks the Notch. To the left, Mt. Webster and the Presidential Range to include the famous Mt. Washington “Home of the World’s Worst Weather.” To the right is the Willey Range and the Mountains of Willey, Tom and Field. Down the center is Rt. 302, one of the most beautiful roads in the country and just to the right of that, up the hill a bit is the Conway Scenic Railroad.
I love that I have the opportunity to share some of the places that I love through the beauty of the night sky and thanks to Chris for the time, money and effort spent into making these images a reality. Go check out more of his work and what are you waiting for, get up to New England!
