This image goes a long way in feeding my unhealthy love for the southwest desert. Mike Taylor comes through again, this time with a great Milky Way image from The Valley of the Gods, in southeastern Utah. This region, like Monument Valley is the remnants of an ancient landscape that rose high above the current desert floor.  Over the years, that land has been eroded away except for the remaining buttes and cliffs that decorate the landscape.

The 17 mile dirt road that winds through it can be challenging in certain conditions and there are no services so you have to bring everything you need. If you do decide to make the trip which I hope to someday as well, you will surely be rewarded with some of the world’s most incredible views.
