If you’ve never been to the iconic 1,235 sq mi. (3,199 sq km.), Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California, the Jumbo Rocks location is a great place to stars. The almost Martian landscape here is simply amazing, especially at night and during sunrise and sunset.  This location is also the largest camping location in the park so spending the night is a breeze.

In this beautiful image by Dylan Martin, the core of the Milky Way seems to light the way with some beautiful rock formations and Joshua trees to paint the foreground. Great image, great location.
